Dodge Moving & Storage Co. Congratulated with a Truck Wrap for being Mayflower Transit’s Mover of the Year

July 7, 2023

Dodge Moving & Storage Co., an agent for Mayflower Transit, completed their first truck wrap as a way to congratulate them for being Mayflower’s Mover of the Year! This truck wrap is a great way to raise awareness for food donations during a time where donations are at the lowest. The Dodge Moving & Storage team has been serving the area around St. Louis, MO since 1902.

Dodge has been an impactful member of the Move For Hunger Team since 2014 and has since proven their dedication to fighting hunger by delivering a total of 32,000 lbs, the equivalent of 26,000 meals, to communities in need!

"How can something so fun be so impactful? Knowing that we have made and continue to make a difference in our community is what drives us."
- Elizabeth Isenogle, Senior Director of Operations and Customer Experience

Food banks face their greatest need for donations during the summer months. Families with children who had been receiving free or reduced-cost breakfast and/or lunch at school are now forced to find a way to replace those meals during summer break - so they often turn to their local food bank or pantry for assistance.

“Our vehicles are traveling billboards. Getting the message out is the main reason for doing this! At Dodge, our busiest time of year is during the summer, which is when food donations are usually at their lowest. This puts Dodge in the perfect position to spread awareness during the time when donations are needed the most,” said Isenogle.

Since its inception in 2009, Move For Hunger has provided over 36 million pounds of food, equalling nearly 27 million meals, to food pantries across the United States. Move For Hunger now has a network of over 1,200 moving companies, including many of the world’s leading relocation management companies, and more than 2,000 multifamily apartment communities, all helping to fight to end hunger by collecting food items and delivering them to local food banks in the United States and Canada.

If you are a mover and would like to make a difference in the communities you serve, consider joining the Move For Hunger network!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
