Beltmann Relocation Group - NJ/NY does a ‘yam’ good job in November, awarding them Mover of the Month

December 13, 2022

Each month, Move For Hunger highlights a moving company that has gone above and beyond with their work to fight against hunger. For November, we’re celebrating Beltmann Relocation Group - NJ/NY for stepping up to help with a Thanksgiving donation transportation.

Joining our network in 2014, Beltmann Relocation Group - NJ/NY is one of 14 Beltmann Relocation Groups in our network across the United States. In November, they helped transport nearly 9,000lbs of donations to the Flemington Area Food Pantry in New Jersey. This will help feed over 7,400 food insecure families this holiday season.

In New Jersey, more than 657,000 people are food insecure, including 1 in 11 children. Every donation transport our network makes helps put food on the table for families who don’t have enough.

Congratulations to Beltmann Relocation Group - NJ/NY on being named November 2022’s Mover of the Month! We thank you so much for your dedication to fighting hunger! If you are a mover and would like to make a difference in the communities you serve, consider joining the Move For Hunger network.

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
