Apex Moving & Storage transports food from the Washington State Fair and IRONMAN Games earning them Mover of the Month

October 13, 2021

Every month we recognize one of our outstanding movers, and for September, Apex Moving & Storage, a Stevens Van Line agent, went above and beyond transporting to multiple food banks in the local area which made the mover an easy choice for our Mover of the Month.

They transported food from the Washington State Fair Food Drive and the IRONMAN race pick up in Booney Lake and Puyallup.

Apex Moving & Storage Washington State Fair Food DriveThe first transport was the food drive put on by KOMO News 4 and the Washington State Fair held on its opening day on Friday, September 3rd. To celebrate its start Washington residents could get in for free by bringing in a canned good. The KOMO News station based in Washington sponsored this food drive and Apex Moving & Storage then transported the food collected to the Puyallup Food Bank.

Apex Moving & Storage also helped transport food following three IRONMAN games in different parts of Washington. Like most races, there is food after they finish - anything from Gatorade to bananas. Fortunately, the Apex team didn’t need to get to climb on obstacles or get muddy in the process of transporting food to the food banks in each part of the state the total weight came to 33,000 pounds! This translates to over 27,000 meals for people to enjoy.

Apex Moving & Storage, has been a great partner of Move For Hunger, joining all the way back in 2015. They have since helped transport over 560,000 meals to those in need. "Our company has worked with several of our local food banks for many years," said Dean Savage, President of Apex. "Working with Move for Hunger allows us more points of contact for places doing food drives- for instance large apartment complexes. We are able to pick up those donations and deliver to the food banks we partner with."

Dean and his team are busy. One weekend a month, they use their trucks to help pick up food from the food banks to take to their local food distribution for Meals In Motion. The food is distributed at all 3 campuses of Motion Church in Puyallup, South Hill, and Bonney Lake Washington. Those distributions help provide food for 225-300 families each month.

Those donations are extremely as the Evergreen State has nearly 800,000 food-insecure people. That’s about 1 in 10 people that go to bed hungry every night. Its movers like Apex Moving & Storage have committed to the cause and volunteer their time, trucks, and people to help fight end hunger.

"There are many wonderful ways to help support our local communities," Dean continued. "We have always felt supporting the food banks is a great way to support our community. When the pandemic first hit, there way a great demand on our local food banks to help support families in need. Though the need has lessened recently, there are still very many in need of food."

We thank them for their support and congratulate them on being named our September Mover of the Month! Want to be part of our mover network? Click here to learn more.
