Apex Moving and Storage Completes 5th Truck Wrap to Raise Awareness on Hunger in Tennessee

July 21, 2022

It’s a wrap - a truck wrap, that is! Apex Moving and Storage, based near Nashville, Tennessee, recently wrapped their 5th truck to raise awareness for the 800,000 food insecure people in Tennessee.

Apex has been a steadfast partner of Move For Hunger since 2011 and has demonstrated determination and grit transporting food over the years. Since partnering with Move For Hunger, Apex Moving and Storage has helped transport nearly 1.6 million pounds of food donations across the Nashville area. This provides more than 1.3 million meals to those in need.

“Over 72 billion pounds of food go to waste yearly while more than 50 million go hungry,” a representative at Apex Moving and Storage said. “We take pride in being part of the reduction of waste and have partnered with Move for Hunger. With so many vulnerable children, families, and seniors that face hunger, we at Apex want to be part of the solution."

Apex first wrapped three trucks in 2016, another in 2019, and the 5th in January of 2022. Truck wraps are a great way for moving companies to get involved in the fight against hunger, as well as show their support for Move For Hunger. In 2022, we’re planning to wrap even more trucks across the country, including trucks at Armbruster Moving & Storage in Ohio and Accent Moving & Storage in Oklahoma!

As more people continue to suffer from food insecurity, we are grateful for the support and dedication from all of our moving companies, especially companies like Apex Moving + Storage. We’re also grateful for the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation's help to support our truck wraps!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
