Altair Global Renews Commitment to Hunger Relief, Donating Nearly 6 Million Pounds of Food

October 30, 2023

Move For Hunger and Altair Global, the first global mobility company focused solely on experience management, have renewed their seventh year of partnership to continue their fight against hunger!

Altair Global became a Move For Hunger partner in 2016, but has been actively participating with Move For Hunger since 2012. Since joining the Move For Hunger network, together with their suppliers, they have collected and delivered more than 5.7 million pounds of food across the U.S. and Canada.

Altair Global is very active within the Move For Hunger network, hosting food drives and fundraisers year-round that make a large impact. For example, Altair Global hosts an annual Grinch-themed Fill-A-Truck food drive to help feed food insecure Texans over the holidays. Their 2022 food drive and fundraiser provided over 45,000 meals to those in need, a significant increase from the year before with 7,200 meals provided.

Our ability to fight hunger by reducing waste within our own industry is of particular importance to us and Move For Hunger enables us (and our network of suppliers/partners) to play a direct role in the shared responsibility we all have to be sustainably impactful corporate citizens.
- Chad Sterling, CEO of Altair Global

“We believe that every opportunity to serve our global community strengthens our connections to each other and those we serve and we are committed to the fight against hunger,” Sterling continued.Altair Global Holiday Food Drive 20208-min.JPEG

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
