Altair Global hosts Grinch-themed Holiday Food Drive, donating more than 7,200 meals to food insecure communities

December 28, 2021

There’s no better way to get in the Christmas spirit than to participate in Altair Global’s 2nd annual Whoville-themed Holiday Food Drive and Fundraiser!

All the Who's in Whoville..we mean Frisco, Texas, worked together with the Grinch throughout their Fill-A-Truck Food Drive on December 11th and 12th at the Altair Global Headquarters. They raised more than $2,200 and donated more than 1,900lbs of food, equalling over 7,200 AltairGlobal2021(2)meals, to the North Texas Food Bank, which was transported by Nelson Westerberg of Texas.

Those who donated in the Drive-Through Food Drive were greeted by Who’s from Whoville and the Grinch, who was actually Altair Global’s CEO, Chad Sterling, dressed head to toe in a Grinch costume.

Altair Global is the only global mobility company focused on experience management, and has been a proud Move For Hunger partner since 2016. Last year’s first annual Grinch-themed Food Drive brought in over 5,000 meals for food insecure communities.

Every donation is needed since more than 4 million people in Texas are food insecure. The North Texas Food Bank alone provides access to food to more than 675,000 people in the north Dallas area. We’re thankful for the amazing people at Altair Global and their efforts to spread cheer this holiday season!

Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
