$10,000 Raised at Wheaton Group Truck Pull, Our First Truck Pull in 2021

November 1, 2021

What better to do on a warm, fall day in the Music City than see how quickly you can pull a moving truck 100 feet? (Not much, if you ask us!)

On October 8, 2021, Wheaton World Wide Moving hosted a Wheaton Group Truck Pull, coinciding with their 66th Annual Partnership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The day was filled with fun for all with cornhole, great food, even better music, and some old-fashioned friendly competition. Event sponsors and the Wheaton Group donated a total of $10,000 to Move For Hunger, which will provide over 25,000 meals to those in need.

Wheaton Truck Pull2Sixteen teams of eight people tried their hands at the exhaustive efforts of pulling a moving truck to the finish line, but only one team could win! We send a huge congratulations to Olympia Moving and Storage and their team for the quickest pull time of 20.63 seconds. The runner-up team, Travel Centers of America, were merely seconds away with a time of 24.35 seconds.

Wondering what a truck pull is? Consider it a modified tug-of-war, but instead of two teams of people competing against each other, it’s a team of 5-10 versus a moving truck that weighs up to 1,400 tons. The goal of the team is to pull the truck a total of 100 feet in the quickest time possible. Whichever team has the fastest time are deemed the winners!

Special thanks to the host of the event, Wheaton World Wide Moving! Wheaton Van Lines has been a partner of Move For Hunger since we were founded, with the foundation of our organization being in close partnership with Lowy’s Moving Service, the family business of our Executive Director and Founder, Adam Lowy. Lowy’s Moving Service is one of 144 agents of Wheaton World Wide Moving and its fellow partner van lines, Bekins, Arpin, and Stevens Van Lines that have participated in the Move For Hunger program over the years. They have delivered over 3.8 million pounds of food since their partnership, equalling over 3.1 millions meals to those in need.

Wheaton Truck PullIn Tennessee, there are over 900,000 people who are food insecure, with 1 in 6 children facing food insecurity. We are overwhelmingly thankful to all our hosts, partners, sponsors, and participants nationwide who are helping us decrease these numbers!

We want to thank Preferred Movers of TN, a Wheaton World Wide Moving agent, and Boerman Moving & Storage, a Bekins Van Lines, for lending their trucks for the event, and all of the teams that participated in truck pull. We also want to send a special shout-out to Jaymie Shook, the Truck Pull Committee, and the Wheaton Group corporate team for putting on a great event.
