Mover Dudes Helps Collect 6,000 LBS. of Food and Supplies for Children in Need

Mover Dudes started small. When the company was founded in 2006 they mostly did local moves in Winchester, VA, but have since expanded to commercial and long-distance moves. They have opened satellite offices in Leesburg and Charlottesville. In September, Mover Dudes held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their new warehouse in White Post, VA. The event marked the latest milestone for the company. Although their base of operations was changing, Mover Dudes' roots remain where it all began - 11 miles to the north in Winchester.

Every mover in our network is able to choose which food bank, shelter, or soup kitchen they would like to support. Most movers choose their local food bank for their ability to distribute goods to all of the pantries in the area most effectively. Others, however, have a connection with smaller, but no less important, organizations in their communities. 

The Henry and William Evans Home for Children has been providing sanctuary for abused and needy kids in Winchester for 68 years. It's an incredible organization. The Evans Home relies on donations to provide the children they serve with shelter, food, basic amenities, and so much more. Mover Dudes wanted to do something big to help kids from a community they care so deeply about.

On December 2, the Mover Dudes partnered with RE/MAX Roots, their local real estate partners, to hold a holiday Stuff-A-Truck food drive. Mover Dudes had one of its truck parked outside of the local Walmart store and challenged shoppers to fill the entire trailer. More than 6,000 lbs. of non-perishable food and other supplies were collected in just a few short hours.

"Evans Home is such a wonderful place that fills an important need in our community," Mover Dudes said on Instagram. "We are proud to be a part of helping them and we are grateful to RE/MAX Roots Shenandoah Valley, Katrina Smith and our entire community for making the day so successful." 

"We really couldn't help the kids if we had to spend all of our time going out and recruiting those donations ourselves, and that's exactly whats going on, these folks are going out and helping us, and it allows us to keep the overhead down, and allows us to spend our efforts and support directly with the kids," Marc Jaccard of the Evans Home for Children told LocalDVM.com.
