RED BANK, NJ – Move For Hunger, a national non-profit organization, and Moving Ahead Services announced today that they have renewed their partnership to reduce food waste and fight hunger in the United States. As a member of the Move For Hunger network since 2015, and an official partner of the organization for the past two years, Moving Ahead Services’ 5 branches have provided nearly 71,000 meals to people in the communities they serve.
People throw away a lot of things when they move, including food. Moving Ahead Services educates their customers about the issues of hunger and food waste and encourages them to donate their unopened, non-perishable food items on moving day. Moving Ahead Services then delivers the donations to a local food bank or pantry at no additional cost.
Moving Ahead Services also provides Move For Hunger with further support by assisting with local food drives and by volunteering to rescue food from large events, like the Cleveland Marathon.
“More than 40 million Americans face hunger every day, but we are wasting 40% of the food in the United States each year,” said Adam Lowy, Executive Director and Founder of Move For Hunger. “Moving Ahead Services is providing a sustainable solution to both problems.
