Classes are back in session, and the students at Georgian Court University opened the Fall Semester by holding a food drive. They kicked off the event at their annual Mercy Day Mass on September 21 and collected non-perishable food items at locations all across the Lakewood, NJ campus until October 5.
In just two weeks, the undergrads donated nearly 400 lbs. pounds of food -- that's enough to provide 330 meals! Lowy's Moving Service, a Wheaton World Wide Moving agent, volunteered to pick up and deliver all of the food to Fulfill (formerly known as The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties).
More than 114,000 people, including in 1 in 7 children, in Monmouth and Ocean Counties face hunger every day. Thank you to the Georgian Court University community and to our friends at Lowy's Moving Service providing meals to your neighbors in need.
