Sami Med Services, located in Cape Coral, FL, participated in NASMM's 100 Can Challenge this May and provided 230 meals to those in need.
This May was Older Americans Month and Sami Med Services, a company that provides moving services to senior citizens, participated in the 100 Can Challenge to raise awareness about food insecurity that exists among senior citizens.
"When I saw that NASMM was hosting the 100 Can Challenge again this year, right away I wanted to be part of it," said Sami Gravedoni. "I believe in giving back and helping those in need. I am looking forward to doing this each year with my company."
Frank & Sons Moving & Storage, a Wheaton agent, helped out by volunteering to deliver non-perishable food items to the Cape Coral Caring Center and the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
In 2014, 5.7 million Americans over the age of 60 were food insecure. This constitutes 9 percent of all seniors. Thanks to Semi Med Services and Frank & Sons Moving & Storage, 275 pounds of food were donated to help fight hunger.
