Rainbow Movers Is Awarded May's Mover Of The Month!

June 16, 2022

Move For Hunger could not make our impact as big as we do without our mover network. Each month, Move For Hunger chooses a moving company that has done a fantastic job in the fight against hunger and names them Mover of the Month. Rainbow Movers, a North American Van Line agent, has been named our Mover of the Month for May!

Rainbow Movers, located in Franklin, Massachusetts on the outskirts of Greater Boston, has been part of Move For Hunger’s mover network since last year and has transported more than 2,500 lbs of food, equalling more than 2,000 meals to local food banks and pantries.

Not only has their impact been made a difference, but Rainbow Movers does an excellent job at sharing the importance of ending hunger with others. Many of those food donations came from people donating their food when they moved.
“There is so much wasted food in this world, and so many people go hungry that don’t need to.  We partnered with Move For Hunger to help get the message out that we feed people in need!  We are only a minute participant however, over all the years we have been partnering with Move For Hunger, it continues to be an important message that we can get out to our customers,” said Erin McEnaney, President of Rainbow Movers and Rainbow Senior Moves.

In Massachusetts, over half a million people are food insecure. But, with the help of Rainbow movers, we can fight food insecurity one meal at a time!

Were thankful for North American Van Lines and their dedication to fighting hunger, especially since more than 42 million Americans are food insecure. We thank Rainbow Movers for their support and congratulate them on being named May’s Mover of the Month! Inflation & food insecurity are on the rise

Cuts to SNAP benefits and inflation have had a devastating economic impact and filled the lines at food banks and pantries across the country. More than 47 million Americans including 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity and do not know where their next meal is coming from.

For people of color and other minorities, the situation is even worse. Hunger disproportionately affects the Black population, the Latinx community, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more.

USDA TERMINATES FOOD SECURITY REPORT

September 22: The USDA announced termination of future Household Food Security Reports USDA, which had tracked hunger nationwide for nearly 30 years. The most recent data revealed that one in seven households — 47.4 million people, including 13.8 million children — were food insecure. For more than three decades, the report was been the gold standard for measuring whether a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. “Eliminating data collection strips away the evidence that proves these programs work, where investment is needed, and who is being left out,” Crystal FitzSimons, president, Food Research & Action Center said in a statement.
