What Do You Do At Move For Hunger?
At Move for Hunger, I serve as the Bookkeeper, Accounts Receivable, and Administrative Assistant, ensuring the organization runs smoothly behind the scenes. My primary responsibilities include invoicing, payment processing, weight receipt processing, volunteer scheduling, and managing our Business Operations interns. I take pride in supporting the team’s mission by keeping financial and administrative operations organized and efficient.
Why did you join Move For Hunger?
I joined Move for Hunger because I wanted to use my skills to make a real difference in the world and be part of a mission that truly matters. The opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while focusing on and growing my operational strengths was exactly what I was looking for. I’m excited to combine my passion for helping others with my love for organization and efficiency to support the team and make a lasting impact.
What do you like about working at Move For Hunger?
This is my first job in the nonprofit space, and I’m thrilled to be part of such meaningful work at Move For Hunger. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the tangible difference we’re making in people’s lives through our efforts to fight hunger. Knowing that my work directly supports a cause that helps so many motivates me every day to give my best.
What’s something that you’re working on right now that you’re excited about?
I’m always excited to manage donations for the organization because I know every dollar makes a meaningful impact on fighting hunger. It’s rewarding to see how my efforts directly contribute to funding programs that help individuals and families in need. Being a part of this mission motivates me to work hard and ensures every transaction supports our cause.
Who has influenced you the most?
My mom’s incredible work ethic has made her the most influential person in my life because she’s always shown me the value of perseverance and dedication. Watching her balance challenges with grace and never giving up on her goals has inspired me to approach my own life with the same determination. Her ability to work hard while still being there for her family has taught me what true strength and love look like.
What food could you eat every day and never get tired of?
Pizza is the ultimate comfort food I could eat every day and never get tired of because it’s so versatile and customizable. Whether it’s loaded with toppings or kept simple with just cheese, every slice feels like a little piece of heaven. From crispy thin crusts to thick, cheesy deep dishes, there’s a style for every mood and craving.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
"Keep it simple, stupid." This is the best advice I’ve ever received because it reminds me not to overcomplicate things and focus on what truly matters. It’s helped me approach problems with clarity and find straightforward solutions instead of getting lost in unnecessary details. This simple mantra has saved me time, energy, and stress in both my personal and professional life.
What’s your favorite movie?
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is my favorite movie because it captures the magical feeling of stepping into a completely new world full of wonder and adventure. From the enchanting score to the iconic Hogwarts setting, everything about it feels timeless and unforgettable. Anytime I’m feeling anxious, upset, or in need of comfort I put that movie on and it’s the most wonderful medicine I could ever ask for.
