June 2020 Mover of the Month: Ward North American

Each month, we highlight one of the moving companies in our network for their extraordinary commitment to fighting hunger in their community. We are excited to announce that Ward North American, an agent of North American Van Lines, has been named our Mover of the Month for June 2020!

In all the craziness of COVID-19, we've been blown away by the support of our moving partners across the country. However, one company stood out over the past month: Ward North American.  Not only did they answer the call to help transport nearly 25,000 lbs of food to food banks across Texas, but they've continued to ask "What more can we do to help?"

"It’s easy to feel powerless in the face of a problem that looms as large as hunger and food insecurity," says Kate Houston, Director of Client Services at Ward. "Our involvement with Move for Hunger has helped us realize that we can be an integral part of the solution, using the resources we already have - trucks, warehouses, and employees with big hearts.  We have held food drives in our offices and in our communities but have been surprised to learn that feeding people isn’t always about donating or collecting food. In our most recent project with Move for Hunger we were able to provide transportation and logistics support throughout Texas. As movers, we are experts at shipping, receiving and distributing household goods, and product.  It is eye opening to see how those solutions, applied to this particular need, can help close the gap in getting food donations deployed to the organizations who are feeding people."

As food banks across our great nation are seeing dramatic spikes in demand, the issue of food security will only get worse before it gets better.  We are grateful to have partners like Ward North American in our network working tirelessly to help provide food to those in need.

In addition to the award, Ward North American will also be receiving Move For Hunger truck decals for their entire fleet.
