Every year, Move For Hunger hosts a Spread the Love Food Drive event throughout the month of February to encourage our communities and network to donate jars of peanut butter and jelly to fight childhood hunger.
Peanut butter is one of the most requested items by food banks due to its extensive shelf life, and the fact that it is kid friendly and high in protein.
With more than 170 Spread the Love Food Drives and Fundraisers hosted by our network, over 48,140 meals were donated to food banks and pantries across the country. We want to highlight a few campaigns that went above and beyond!
Equity Residential (EQR), a real estate company that invests in multifamily properties, hosted two separate events to fight childhood hunger this February.
Their Full Belly, Full Hearts Food Drive and Fundraiser had more than 80 properties participate, and collected more than 11,500lbs of food donations and over $9,000, providing more than 32,000 meals to food insecure families across the United States.
The top property that collected the most donations was Sheffield Court, located in Arlington, Virginia! They collected 760lbs of food, providing more than 630 meals to the Arlington Food Assistance Center. In a close second were the Marlowe Apartments, also located in Arlington. They collected nearly 725lbs of donations, providing over 600 meals to food insecure communities in Virginia. CORT transported both donations!
EQR also hosted a Spread the Love Food Drive and Fundraiser in conjunction with their Awards event in Southern California and New York City. Collaboratively, the events provided more than 23,200 meals to those in need! Our appreciation also goes to CORT for transporting the donations to local food banks.
Bell Partners, a multifamily management company and a partner of Move For Hunger, also encouraged their residents to participate in the fight against childhood hunger by hosting a Spread the Love Food Drive. They had more than 65 properties participate across the United States, collecting nearly 7,000lbs of food donations. That will provide almost 6,000 meals to food insecure families.
There was one Bell Partners property that stood out from the rest - Bell Boca Town Center located in Boca Raton, Florida. This property held a nearly 600lb lead on the second top earning property, Villages at Pecan Grove in North Carolina. In total, Bell Boca Town Center collected
Zumper, the largest privately owned rental platform in North America, also joined in on the action! In total, Zumper residents hosted 8 Front Porch Food Drives hosted in 5 states across the country. Collaboratively,
