More than 840 Participants in the Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge Blew Past Our Goal, Providing Over 135,000 Meals to Those in Need in June

July 6, 2023

Throughout June, Move For Hunger partnered with Weichert Workforce Mobility to host the 3rd annual Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge! The challenge had over 840 participants who stayed active throughout the month, blowing past our original goal of providing 165,000 meals and helping communities in need by providing more than 178,000 meals!

Overall, the month-long challenge had:

  • 40,262 activities logged
  • 264,545 miles logged
  • 230 returning participants
  • Over 600 new participants
  • 12 new companies participating
  • 3,374 ‘high fives’ given in the app
  • 1,730 photos taken of activities

Throughout the challenge, participants are encouraged to do any activity they enjoy - like dancing, running, walking their dog, gardening, knitting, or even cooking - which were then translated into meals for someone in need. Each participant used the social media-activity app, atlasGO, to log their activities.

Within the app, users viewed leaderboards and posted selfies of them participating in a variety of activities. People could participate from anywhere and engage in some friendly competition - and fight hunger while competing!

Over 60 teams signed up for the challenge, but there can only be one reigning champion - congrats to Team Weichert Workforce Mobility for being crowned our 2022 Move 2 Fight Hunger Champions! Team Weichert Workforce Mobility had over 100 team members and provided nearly 37,000 meals from activities and donations throughout June.

We’re so thankful for your support of Move For Hunger and helping this event be even bigger and better than the prior years.

Thank you to our participants for dedicating your time, energy, and enthusiasm as part of our 2023 Move To Fight Hunger Challenge! To our donors - we couldn’t do any of this without any of you! Because of you all, we're able to put more food on the table for food insecure communities across the nation.

The primary sponsor of this event, Weichert Workforce Mobility, became a partner of Move For Hunger in 2019. Weichert Workforce Mobility was also a sponsor for the Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge in 2022, which provided over 92,000 meals to communities in need.  We’re beyond thankful to Weichert Workforce Mobility for sponsoring this event!

The Move 2 Fight Hunger Challenge is a great way for participants to give back to their communities, especially to the 9 million children that face hunger every day. During the summer, many children are left without access to daily meals through their schools. Studies show that food insecure children had a harder time at school compared to those who had consistent meals. Food banks also face their greatest need for donations during the summertime.

With 34 million Americans and 1 in 8 children living without enough food to eat on a day to day basis, the Move 2 Fight Hunger event is a great way to provide meals to local food insecure communities. We hope you’ll join us next June to help us MOVE as one and continue fighting hunger across the country.
