Food Drive

So you’ve decided that you want to help your neighbors in need and hold a food drive. That’s Great!
We want to help you, help others. We’ve put together this page which you can use along with our Food Drive Tips page to ensure that your food drive is an all-around success.
1. Use our Find-A-Mover tool to locate a mover in your area. Team up with a Move For Hunger Mover to do the heavy lifting and make sure the food is properly delivered to the food bank. Do you really want to lift all that heavy food anyway? Once you’ve found a mover in your area, contact us at the Move For Hunger offices at 732-775-0521 or info@MoveForHunger.org and we’ll help you get started.
2. Have an event coming up like a sports game, concert recital, school play, holiday party or family gathering? Turn it into a food drive. Almost any event will work as a food drive, just ask the people that are attending to bring a couple of cans along to help those in need.
3. Set up the drive at a grocery store, gym, market or other crowded. Make it easy for people to donate to increase your chances of success. Have friends give out information about the collection as people go in so they can buy something extra to donate on the way out. Check out the Fill-A-Truck Drive from our friend Xander as an example:
4. Create a Food Pantry List of items that are the most needed for the food banks. While any donation is greatly appreciated, the most needed items are high in protein and have a long shelf-life such as:

5.Arm yourself with knowledge. Include a flier or poster with the drive that features a hunger statistic for your area. Don’t know the hunger stats in your area? Call us and we’ll help you find relevant statistics and design a flier for the event.
Still stumped for ideas? Give us a call @ 732-774-0521. We’d be glad to help you get started!
