make your move more sustainable

People throw away a lot of things when they move, including perfectly good food. When more than 47 million Americans are facing hunger, there's no reason that any food should go to waste. By providing people with the opportunity to donate non-perishable food when they move, we believe we can eliminate food waste during the relocation process.

Why it's important

Because 35 million Americans move every single year. If we recovered just 1 pound of food from each of them, we’d be able to provide 29 million meals to people all across the country.

Most Commonly Needed Items

Move For Hunger accepts unopened, non-perishable items only. Please avoid expired food or food in glass containers. Even though your aunt might make the best jam in town we, unfortunately, cannot accept it unless it was purchased from a store and is still sealed.
