THS National continues a legacy of improving communities through renovation and community building. Through partnerships with Move for Hunger and leaders of the apartment industry, our goal is to maximize the social capital that exists among residents who live in high-density housing. Grub Drop, A Food Competition seeks to rally those working in leasing offices of apartment communities to champion a food drive among their residents.

More than 37 million Americans were food insecure before the COVID-19 pandemic and that number is estimated to increase by 17 million due to the devastating economic impact and increasing the need for emergency services nationwide. Leasing offices & property managers can make a positive difference in their community by creating a platform where residents can give. A single donation from each resident within a community of 200+ units can make a big difference for the local food bank. Multiple apartment communities hosting food drives can change the story that is written about our city during these times.

If you work in a leasing office and are ready to lead an initiative to help those who are struggling with hunger or food insecurity, then consider joining our effort to help those in need. During the food drive, THS National will be also holding a friendly competition among each participating property. The location that donates the most amount of food will win a $500 gift certificate to help sponsor a spring resident event.

Grub Drop, A Food Competition will take place from Monday, February 1st through Sunday, February 28th. The winner will be announced in early April once all food has been collected and given to the local food bank/pantry.

As we Spread The Love in the month of February, consider donating peanut butter & jelly jars to help celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Joining us in the Grub Drop, A Food Competition will not only help with the fight against hunger, but it will also be a fun way to create a sense of pride among all the staff and residents of your community!

Signing up to participate in the Grub Drop, A Food Competition is super simple.

How the program works

People throw away a lot of things when they move, including perfectly good food. With 40 million Americans facing hunger each day, including 1 in 6 children, there's no reason any food should go to waste. Move For Hunger is teaming up with the multi-family industry to make sure every resident has the opportunity to donate their food when they move.

When a resident gives notice that they are moving out, please provide them with the program letter and a food collection bag.

Encourage them to place any unopened, non-perishable food items that they are not taking with them and wish to donate in the bag.

When you've collected a few bags, let us know! We will arrange for a partner to pick up the donations and deliver them to your local food bank.
