Intern With Us

Move For Hunger has a robust internship program for students, recent graduates, and life-long learners with an interest in hunger-relief, to introduce them to the practical components of working in the non-profit industry.

We are currently seeking candidates for our Fall 2016 Internship Program (September – December). This season we are offering four options: three on-site internships (non-profit management, new/social media communications & graphics design) in our Asbury Park office and a remote internship focused on new media communications. NON-PROFIT MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP | COMMUNICATIONS, DEVELOPMENT, EVENTS

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move For Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a dynamic, self-starter interested in learning about non-profit administration, to assist with development, marketing, event planning, and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of non-profit administration while working for an exciting young award-winning hunger-relief organization.

TIME COMMITMENT

  • 2-3 days/week
  • Minimum 14 hrs/week in our Asbury Park office

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate level students, or recent college graduates
  • Preferred Majors: Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Health Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Non-profit Management, Business Administration
  • MS Office Proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Outgoing Personality with outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Interest in making a difference in the community

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and responsibilities will vary from day to day, however possibilities include the following:

  • Assist in planning food drives and fundraising events
  • Draft, distribute, and pitch press releases, media alerts, and other stories
  • Maintain knowledge of current events and trends within hunger relief and food waste fields
  • Help with development of social media and website content
  • Assist in developing, organizing, and implementing awareness and giving campaigns
  • Assist program directors with operational initiatives and member communications

NEW (SOCIAL) MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP 

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move For Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a dynamic, self-starter interested in learning about new media, also known as social media, communications. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience how social media is used in a professional, non-profit setting, while working for an exciting young award-winning hunger-relief organization.

TIME COMMITMENT

  • Minimum 2-3 days/week
  • Minimum 14 hrs/week in our Asbury Park office

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate level students, or recent college graduates
  • Preferred Majors: Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Health Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Non-profit Management, Business Administration

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will work directly with the Communications Manager and Director of External Affairs. Duties and responsibilities will vary from day to day, however possibilities include the following:

  • Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns
  • Identify and track social media coverage
  • Maintain knowledge of current events and trends within hunger relief and food waste fields
  • Assist in developing social media strategies for a variety of goals
  • Amplify website content through social media posts
  • Assist in developing, organizing, and implementing awareness and giving campaigns
  • Assist program directors with operational initiatives and member communications

COMPENSATION:

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move for Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a creative, motivated, enthusiastic candidate interested in learning more about professional graphic design. The selected candidate with work directly with the events and communications team to help raise awareness about hunger through event fliers, posters, banners, info graphics, and images for social media.

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • 2-3 days/week
  • Minimum 14 hrs/week in our Asbury Park office

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Creative with graphic design
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to meet deadlines

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Creating visual content for website and individual posts to our blog/ events section
  • Creating flyers, banners, posters, and marketing materials for food drives and other events
  • Creation of layout and design for collateral materials
  • Creation of info graphics for social media
  • Input into layout redesign of existing material

DESCRIPTION:

  • Move For Hunger, a national hunger-relief 501(c)3 organization, seeks a dynamic, self-starter interested in learning about non-profit communications, with an emphasis on new media. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals to experience various aspects of non-profit administration, focusing on communications and new media, while working for an exciting young award-winning hunger-relief organization.

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • 10-15 hrs/week

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or graduate level students, or recent college graduates
  • Preferred Majors: Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Health Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Non-profit Management, Business Administration
  • MS Office Proficiency preferred
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Social media savvy with an interest in following trends in new media
  • Interest in making a difference in the community

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Create and execute a targeted social media strategy for pre-specified objectives
  • Participate in weekly team meetings via skype
  • Develop strong working knowledge of current events within the hunger relief and food waste fields
  • Maintain knowledge of current new media trends, with an emphasis on the non-profit sector
  • Generate insightful social media and website content
  • Assist in developing, organizing, and implementing awareness and giving campaigns
