Over 30% of LGBTQIA+ women reported not having enough money for food throughout the year.
Due to workplace discrimination, discriminatory laws, and other factors, the LGBTQ+ community is hit hard with food insecurity.
To make matters worse, transwomen, gender-nonconforming people, and women who identify as lesbian or bisexual tend to have lower incomes compared to the general population and to gay men, and therefore have less money to spend on food.
MOVE FOR HUNGER HELPS GET FOOD IN THE HANDS OF THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY
At Move For Hunger, we firmly believe in equality for all and equitable access to food for all including those in the LGBTQ+ community.
Over the years, much of the 29 million meals we’ve helped deliver has been distributed to this community that we hold dear including thousands of meals taken to LGBTQ+ friendly food pantries like the Pride Pantry in Los Angeles.
